Ali Ata Looks at How Hospitals and Hotels are Connected Today
Ali Ata Explains the Modern Hospital-Hotel Link

As Ali Ata points out, the facilities and overall appearance of many new hospitals in the United States have undergone a major upgrade over the last two decades. While some hospitals still look like the cold infirmaries of yesteryear, newer institutions are now often built to look more like hotels. In fact, many older hospitals have even gone through major renovations to become more welcoming and relaxing to their patients and visitors.
Because of these changes, real estate investors and developers have slowly been giving notice to hospitals more than ever before, says real estate veteran Ali Ata. In fact, he indicates that this so-called hospital revolution began when developers started looking for ways to make hospitals more pleasant. As a result, they tried to find designs that attempted to lessen the generally stressful atmosphere of a modern hospital, which led them to take cues from the hospitality industry.
Modern hospitals have incorporated more than just the appearance of hotels. Nowadays, a hospital's staff undergoes training quite like a hotel's staff, which allows for a more personal and comfortable patient experience. For example, it's common these days to see nurses and other hospital staff greet and exchange pleasantries with patients. Other amenities commonly seen at hotels are now becoming more readily available at many hospitals, such as valet parking.

Ali Ata mentions that the result has been that the modern hospital has attracted a growing number of patients who are no longer as terrified of the building as they once were. One can only imagine what other hotel features hospitals will adopt in the future.
What about you? What would you implement if you could change any feature in a hospital to make it more welcoming to people? Share your answers with Ali Ata in the comments below.
